After learning about how our consumption of fast fashion goods impacts the people and the planet, I made the switch to slow fashion in April 2018 and pledged to be a socially responsible shopper. Slow fashion is about embracing the 'fewer, better' philosophy of buying fewer but better-quality clothing that lasts. It means making conscious choices, such as supporting brands that make a positive social and environmental impact.
In my Consciously Chic series, I share how sustainable and ethical fashion can be stylish through outfit inspiration and guides, highlight brands with missions to do good, and provide resources so you can learn more about this beautiful movement and lifestyle.
Knowledge = Empowerment for change. I hope to equip you with the knowledge and resources to make the shift to a more conscious, sustainable wardrobe. Together, let’s celebrate slow fashion and empower the workers who make our clothes, all while building our personal style and embracing our values through the clothes we wear.
“The word ‘change’ can be intimidating, riddled with expectation of outcomes and fear of failure. So I want to propose something to you: when steering a boat, a captain can shift the wheel 1° and it drastically changes the course of the boat. I would like to challenge you... to make a 1° shift, because a small change can make a huge difference.” — Emma Watson
