I haven't talked about my new(ish) hairstyle on my blog yet, but if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might already know that I chopped off my long hair to style it as an A-line bob! I re-dyed it as well, opting for an ash blonde color melt. Below I share my top 6 hair products at the moment, as well as a couple tips on how to maintain color-treated hair.
MY TOP 6 HAIR PRODUCTS:
1. Sachajuan Silver Shampoo & 2. Sachajuan Silver Conditioner
If you plan to color your hair to a blonde or ash grey color, or even if you plan to just get highlights on top of dark hair, make sure to purchase toning shampoo and conditioner in advance (also commonly known as purple or silver shampoo/conditioner). The last thing you want your hair to do is fade to a brassy color after all that time and money spent on it! What are toning shampoos/conditioners, you ask? They are purple pigmented hair products that neutralize brassy tones, increasing your hair's blue undertones to give you a cooler hue. I use the Sachajuan Silver Shampoo & Conditioner about three times per week to prolong my ash blonde hair color and to protect it from UV damage! I also love that it features Ocean Silk Technology to hydrate my hair and give it some shine.
Toning Shampoo/Conditioner Favorites:
3. Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum
I found out about the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum from my mom, who is a cosmetologist/hair stylist (she is also the one who cuts and styles my hair :). A few years ago during one of my routine hair cut appointments with her, she put this serum on to smooth out my ends and flyaways. I've been hooked ever since! It adds a ton of shine and reduces hair drying time.
4. Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment
The Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment is another favorite hair treatment of mine. This product also smooths and nourishes hair and significantly reduces drying time by at least 40%. I've been using this hair oil treatment more often lately for its added UV protection to prolong my new hair color. I like carrying around these travel-sized versions of the skinny serum and healing oil treatment to easily throw in my bag for on-the-go uses.
Other Hair Treatment Favorites:
5. Sebastian Shaper Hold & Control Hairspray
The Sebastian Shaper Hold & Control Hairspray is a quick-drying, brushable hair styling spray! I tease the back of my hair to give it volume and need to brush the top to smooth it over. This hairspray gives me the flexible hold I need to maintain volume all day while still allowing me to brush it over for that smooth finish.
Other Hairspray Favorites:
6. Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo has got to be one of the best hair product inventions of all time. Ever since I discovered what it can do for my hair, I always make sure to be well stocked up on these! For those of you who haven't heard of dry shampoo, it is a powder/spray used on greasy hair days to absorb excess oil, to give your hair added volume, and to help prolong a styled blowout. The Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo absorbs excess hair oils while giving you a refreshing feeling and without the powdery/gritty residue commonly felt from many dry shampoos. Dry shampoo can get pricey, so I appreciate that this one gets the job done and is sold at an affordable price point!
Other Dry Shampoo Favorites:
The above items are my tried-and-true favorites. With the exception of the Sachajuan toning shampoo and conditioner, I have been using all of the above for a couple of years now. But keep in mind that we all have different types of hair, so what works for me won't necessarily mean it'll work for you. I've tried a great deal of hair products and hair care brands since my mom is a hair stylist, and I'm constantly on the search for the best products on the market. I would love to know what your favorite hair products are! If you have any hair care tips for color-treated hair, please share them below as well :)
Thanks so much for visiting. Happy Thursday and have a great rest of your week!
