Fresh Start | New Blog Look/Features & Newest Outfit Inspiration

Happy 2016, everyone!

Did you all have a fun and relaxing holiday break in December? I’ve been busy working on revamping my blog and I’m so excited to finally share it with you today!

Here are a few highlights of the changes I’ve made to The Chic Diary site:

  • New independent sections for outfits and travel: You can now easily keep up with my latest travel adventures and mini guides in my Travel section or get outfit ideas from my curated looks in my new Lookbook section! Currently in Lookbook, I have Minimalist, Everyday Chic, and All Dressed Up outfit collections up. I’ll be adding more collections as I add more outfit posts to my blog. Feel free to provide suggestions on the styles you’d like to see more of in the comments section below. I’ve been envisioning these lookbook collections even before I launched my blog, so I’m thrilled to be finally sharing these with you!
  • New blog sidebar: You can now easily see and jump to different blog posts in the Blog Archives, search for specific posts or subjects in the search bar, shop my latest style finds, follow me on all forms of social media accounts, and get Instagram sneak peeks to up and coming outfits and posts that I have in the works! Follow me on Pinterest to see where I get some of my inspiration as well. :)

Now onto the outfit details. If you read my last post, which is a NYC mini travel guide, you may remember one of the activities I recommended was to walk The High Line in West Village/The Meatpacking District, a gorgeous park promenade elevated above the NYC streets... This is where we shot today’s look!

When it comes to buttoned shirt dresses, I prefer synthetic polyester material over cotton. This is because polyester is travel-friendly and wrinkle-resistant, which makes it effortless to put on and go - especially when you’re rushing in the morning. This burgundy and black plaid shirt dress makes it so easy to instantly look put together. I paired it with a black feather statement necklace, which gives my outfit a unique touch but doesn’t compete against the patterns of the dress.

I was so relieved to have brought my black leather Coach bag and Halogen flats with me to NYC because I’ve found that comfort and convenience are so important when traveling. When you’re out-and-about, it’s always more convenient to have a large enough bag to carry all your necessities. I’ve actually had this leather carry-all bag for years and it’s still in excellent condition! I love how the leather tassel gives the bag some chic character too. And last but never least are my go-to shoes for comfort and style: The Halogen pointed flats. I love how the t-strap, ’stingray’ texture, and embellished studs give them a bit of cool edge. Remember, it’s all in the details. ;)

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you enjoy my new blog look/features and that you’re having a great start to the New Year!
